The Power of Curiosity

How to ask questions that get others to open up and teach you things you didn’t know you needed to know.

July 14 | 5:30 PM ET

During this afternoon session, Vance Crowe will discuss what he has learned about how to leverage our natural curiosity to learn from others as a tool for building relationships and breaking free from over-simplified ways of thinking. Vance will highlight examples from his time as a strategic communicator with Monsanto, a US Peace Corps Volunteer living in Kenya, a communications strategist at the World Bank and after having interviewed more than 100 people in the last year.

Audience members will feel empowered to ask dangerous, probing questions that will challenge what they think and prompt the speakers to address questions they might otherwise never have thought of.

The session will include a live conversation between Vance Crowe and ASFMRA Young Professional leadership Committee member Grant Fitzgerald, ARA, so that the audience can experience firsthand how to engage a new person, even over video conference. Following the conversation, participants will enter small group breakout rooms, allowing each person the chance to make new network connections, get an opportunity to improve their telepresence, and have a cocktail with colleagues from around the country.

*Registrants must be 39 years old or younger.
