Kim DeWees is a small business owner and a true entrepreneur at heart. Since 2001, Kim and her business partner/husband have started five businesses.
Vision Ag, Inc, was a dream devised by a handful of famers and an Elevator Manager who was looking to leave the corporate world to follow her passion. With the support of a few loyal farmers, Kim started a buying group in the summer of 2000 with a small office and a pickup truck. Today, Vision Ag, Inc has grown into a full service agricultural retail facility located in Rensselaer, IN with facilities that do everything from fertilizer, seed, and chemicals to farm management, Vision Farm Management Services, LLC, and most recently precision agriculture.
Included in the Vision Ag Family is a gas and diesel shop, Autoworks, along with a feed and boot store, Prairies Edge. The Vision Ag family, composed of approximately 27 employees is continuing to grow as it prides itself in providing unbeatable customer service with a quality product at a fair price to fulfill the needs of the local farmer, regardless of their size.
Kim business partner/husband, Don, is a lifelong farmer that also shares that entrepreneur spirit. When they are not working the 4,400 acre farm, or tending to one of the Vision Ag family of businesses they enjoy looking for further opportunities to continue to grow to meet the needs of the farming community.
When Kim isnt satisfying her passion for business, she serves her community as much as possible by working with the Rensselaer Chamber of Commerce, and the Jasper County Farm Bureau board. She is also an active member of the Pheasants Forever, National Turkey Federation, and Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry associations. Recently Kim and Don started a fund through a local charitable foundation that is providing scholarships to local high school students looking to further their education in the field of Agriculture. Kim is always looking for a talented intern to work with her team and gain valuable experience in the industry.
Kim graduated from Purdue with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics. She bleeds black and gold and tries to get back to Purdue as much as possible to cheer on the Boilers.
