I started my appraiser journey in the county assessor's office in March 2011, when I was hired for my part time/seasonal position to be the Deputy Director. I spent 3 years in the assessor's office, where I met my supervisor, a residential fee appraiser. In 2014 I gave him a call to see if he'd take me on, and the time was right - his mom was retiring, his trainee had moved on, and he was ready to take on a new trainee. I had a vague idea of what I was getting myself into. I spent 3 years working toward my license, obtained that in 2017, and began working toward my Certified Residential license, which I obtained in 2020. I plan to work toward Certified General.
Similar to many residential appraisers, the majority of the work I complete is lender work for mortgage financing. I am open to new projects and have started taking on more in-depth projects for lenders or lawyers, and recently I started working with other appraisers on projects in order to expand my knowledge base and networking.
My market area is primarily rural and I am most familiar with small acreages, small towns, and lakes in our area. Our two largest urban areas are about 25,000 - 35,000 residents.
My husband recently started as a trainee with an Ag appraiser, and I am looking forward to learning from them and also learning more about Ag appraising.
