James D. Cannon (Jim) earned his B.S. degree in Agricultural Economics in 1965 from Oklahoma State University and has been active in the appraisal field since his graduation. He has national appraisal experience in agricultural, natural resource, transitional and commercial/industrial properties. His experience includes both asset appraisal and business valuation. Jim obtained the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and the ARA designation from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA). Jim was an instructor of appraisal courses for ASFMRA. Jim served on the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) for a two year term beginning in 2005.
During Jim's career he held numerous credit and management positions in the Farm Credit System headquarters in Wichita, Kansas; Denver, Colorado; and St. Paul Minnesota. Before establishing the predecessor of LongView Appraisal Services, Inc.. in 1992, he was Senior Vice President of the St. Paul Farm Credit Bank supervising the appraisal, loan review and credit policy departments. Jim is retired from appraising but remains a partner in LongView Appraisal Services, Inc. and serves as its President.
