I am currently Vice President, U.S. Farm Management for Manulife Investment Management Agriculture Services (MAS). I have been with MAS since 2018. Prior to working for MAS my career was 12 years (1998 - 2011) as an Extension Agriculture Economist for the University of Nebraska at the Panhandle Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. My focus was on farm management, ag policy, and grain marketing. Most recently, I was an Assistant Vice President at Platte Valley Bank in Scottsbluff (2011 - 2018), with a $25 million ag loan portfolio and started a farm management office there in 2014.
I was raised on a irrigated farm with a small cattle backgrounding feedlot in Powell, Wyoming. We grew sugarbeets, pinto beans, corn, malting barley, and alfalfa on 1,400 acres. I received a Bachelor of Science in Farm and Ranch Management and Master of Science in Agriculture Economics, both from the University of Wyoming in the early 1990s. My thesis focused on the economics of sugarbeet production and harvest dates.
My wife, Amy, and I currently live in Canyon, Texas. We have three adult children and two granddaughters that keep us busy when we are not working. I enjoy sharing farm management withe ASFMRA classes and university students when the opportunity presents itself. My hobbies include umpiring baseball and auto mechanics.
