Bio

David began his career as apprentice appraiser with the Intermountain Region of the National Park Service in Santa Fe, New Mexico; a region encompassing seven states from Texas to Montana. In 2003, he transitioned to the Southwest region of the US Department of the Interiors Appraisal Services Directorate (ASD) where he became a certified general appraiser and earned the Real Property Review Appraiser (RPRA) designation from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. In 2010, the organization transitioned from the region-centric ASD to the Bureau-centric Office of Valuation Services (OVS). At DOI, David handled cases ranging from trespass sales to land exchanges supporting mineral development to interesting permit projects like Over the River in southern Colorado. In June 2012, David accepted a position with the USDA Forest Service as the Southwestern Regional Appraiser. At USFS, he managed the valuation program for eleven National Forests in New Mexico and Arizona along with two grasslands in Texas and Oklahoma. The Southwestern Region is a diversity of landscapes ranging from the sky islands of the Coronado National Forest in southern Arizona to alpine tundra near 13,000 feet in the Carson National Forest of northern New Mexico. After 10 years at the Forest Service, David accepted a position at the US Department of the Interior's Appraisal and Valuation Services Office (AVSO) as Regional Director for the Central Region where he manages a diverse staff of professional appraisers and support staff providing valuation services to the Department's bureaus in the states of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. David is pleased to back where his appraisal career started, with DOI in the Intermountain West. David is an alumnus of New Mexico Military Institute and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (1998) and a Master of Public Administration (2001), both from Texas Tech University. He enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, ham radio, and hiking with his 17 year old son Walker.
