A grade 10 dropout, Barry’s real estate interests inspired him to attend university and college night schools, where he earned 20 recognized real estate designations. He has appeared as an expert witness across five real estate fields in 600 trials in Canada and the United States, many dealing with appraisal, stigma or agency matters. A featured real estate columnist, his articles circulate across Canada and around the world. As a popular guest speaker and instructor, Barry is an international speaker and has appeared before real estate and legal audiences. With minimal funding he started a one-man appraisal firm and over the years developed it into one of the largest boutique firms in Canada with 33 on staff. Barry earned three appraisal designations over his 30 years of appraising. His assignments took him across North America with his last major assignment involving litigation for thousands of properties in Texas.
