U.S.-China relations are at the lowest point in decades and doubts surrounding China’s economic outlook are mounting. With China being one of the most important buyers of U.S. agricultural products, Dr. Wendong Zhang of Cornell University and formerly Iowa State will share insights and perspectives on the outlook for this important bilateral relationship, Chinese economic growth and what it means for U.S. agriculture.
Speaker: Wendong Zhang, Ph.D., is an assistant professor and extension economist in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. His research seeks to better understand the interplay between agriculture and the environment, farmland market and Chinese agriculture. Zhang is currently faculty affiliate at Cornell Center for China Economic Research (CICER). Prior to Cornell, he was an associate professor of economics at Iowa State University, where he co-founded the ISU China Ag Center. Zhang was Academic Vice President of the ASFMRA Iowa Chapter and is now a member of the Northeast Chapter.
