Accurate property descriptions are the foundation of land ownership, valuation, and management. This 6-hour seminar is designed for rural appraisers, farm managers, and agricultural consultants who need to confidently interpret and apply legal descriptions in their work. Participants will learn the major systems used in the U.S.—including Metes and Bounds, the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), Lot and Block, and Texas General Land Office methods—along with practical skills for plotting parcels and calculating acreage. The course emphasizes real-world applications, such as identifying boundaries, understanding easements, and resolving discrepancies that impact property value and land use decisions. By the end of the seminar, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to navigate legal descriptions with precision and avoid costly errors.
