Speaker: Edgar Hicks; former Iowa Director, CFO Systems, LLC
Edgar has a thorough history in the Midwest grain industry as exemplified by his tenures within commercial futures, major exporters such as Cargill, managing and living in rural communities, and stints at the Chicago Board of Trade.
Edgar’s clientele ranged from farmer accounts that he advised on marketing concepts to Fortune 100 food accounts he provided with price protection strategies. He has worked as a general manager with the Farmers Cooperative in Clarks, Nebraska and as a barge/rail grain merchandiser with the Pillsbury Company. In addition, he has assisted rural communities in developing alternative grain marketing strategies and in establishing 501(c)(3) organizations.
Edgar formerly served on Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman’s Rural Development Commission, Congressman Lee Terry’s Ag Advisory Team, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Agricultural Advisory Committee and the USDA’s Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) Advisory Committee. He is a former member of the USDA Emerging Markets Advisory Committee and past chairman of the Executive Committee of the Nebraska State Grange (America’s oldest farmer-based organization).
