Tyler_Walsh_Headshot2.jpgFor this Member Spotlight, we're highlighting Tyler Walsh, ARA, from Fargo, North Dakota. Tyler is a member of both the Minnesota and North Dakota Chapters of the ASFMRA, and currently works for Crown Appraisals, Inc. Tyler joined the ASFMRA in 2015, and we want to congratulate him on recently earning his ARA designation.

How did you begin your career in ag appraisal?

Growing up on a dairy farm in Minnesota, I've been surrounded by agriculture my whole life. However, my career in ag appraisal didn't start until I joined Crown Appraisals in 2015. In college, my original plan was to become an accountant for a public or private accounting firm, but I was led a different path to become an appraiser. The ability to use my ag and accounting backgrounds have been very beneficial towards the appraisal work I do today.

What ag or real estate issues are you most passionate about or interested in?

Crown Appraisals is heavily involved in agribusiness mergers and acquisitions. I enjoy learning about all of the M&A activity that is going on in agribusiness, both large and small companies. I also try to stay up-to-date on any new tax laws or accounting rules related to real estate.

How does it feel to have earned your ARA certification?

The path to my ARA designation has been very rewarding. I believe that meeting and working with all of the instructors, ASFMRA staff, and appraiser peers while earning my ARA has been the most rewarding of all.

Is there any part of your professional experience that has been especially fulfilling for you?

Going off of my last answer, I am grateful to have met the folks that I have over my professional career thus far. I believe it is the people you connect with that can truly impact the success of your career and your life.
