7:30 am – Registration

8:00 am – Lance Harmon, attorney with Bailey, Stock, Harmon, Cottam & Lopez, LLP, will be leading a focused discussion on 1031 Exchanges and estate planning and administration.  Lance has extensive background in estate, business, real estate and tax law.  1031 exchanges are very common. This session will focus on eligibility, terms and guidelines around a 1031 exchange, with an emphasis on how these may or may not affect the property.

10:00 am – Break

10:15 am – Dale Cottom, attorney with Bailey, Stock, Harmon, Cottam & Lopez, LLP, will be leading a focused discussion on easements, boundary disputes and well water permitting.  Dale specializes in business law, including entity formation, transactions, acquisitions and mergers and commercial disputes.  Easements, boundary disputes and well water permitting are all applicable to many of the rural acreages that we value and/or sell.  This session will provide great insight and background on these topics.

Noon – Break for Lunch (provided)

1:00 pm – Louis Wasniewski, owner of Wild Waters Restoration, will conduct a 4-hour session on stream management, focusing on stream health, stream classifications, plant health, meandering reinstalled and more.  Louis is also a field hydrologist for the Caribou-Targhee National Forest.  This session will provide additional education on what streams/creeks/river provide value on properties being appraised or sold.

5:00 pm – Meeting Adjourns followed by group dinner

Friday, June 14th, 2019

8:00 am -Noon – Tom Johnson will be providing a tour of an area ranch that has managed and developed streams that are considered to be trophy fisheries.  This tour will be related to the Thursday afternoon discussion.  Louis will be attending the tour to help answer questions, point out key features on the property and also ask additional questions.  The tour will be an excellent tie-in to the first day presentations and allow more of a hands-on type course.
