THURSDAY, APRIL 22ND
Location: General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum in Hobart, OK

Tour of Premium Beef Feedlot - Interact with the owner and hear discussion of this vertically integrated feedlot and farming enterprise that specializes in contracting with ranchers to purchase locally raised cattle that meet the “All-Natural” selection criteria. This beef is ultimately marketed and sold to Whole Food grocery stores in a 4-state region.

2:00 - 3:00 PM  Tour Lugert-Altus Irrigation District and Dam - Inspect the dam site that impounds approximately 130,000 acre feet of water that is used for irrigation purposes. Learn about the history of the structure and the impoundment and how it impacts the area economy by providing irrigation water for the local water district. Inspect the network of canals, ditches and other means that transport irrigation water (all by gravity flow) to over 30,000 acres of farmland. Interview and speak with the district manager.
3:00 - 4:00 PM  Tour Martha Valley Farms - Visit and tour a family owned farm where attendees can interview and speak with the owner. This farm specializes in irrigation and dryland crop production including cotton, milo, wheat, and alfalfa. Learn about current farming practices, methods, economics, and agronomy. Farming equipment will be available to inspect as well as farmland and irrigation equipment.
4:00 - 5:00 PM  Tour Plains Cotton Cooperative - Inspect and tour cotton warehouses with capacities exceeding 1 million bales of ginned cotton. Interact and speak with the manager to understand the integrated system of storing, warehousing, shipping, and marketing the local cotton crop to world-wide markets.
