2013 Membership Directory – Check Your Listing – Cell Numbers Included!

The ASFMRA 2013 Membership Directory information will soon be pulled, printed, and published. This is the second year that your cell phone number will be included! Make sure your listing is correct today.

Simply go the ASFMRA Web site (, log in (your Username is your first and last name, altogether, no spaces and your Password is your member ID number), and choose Update Profile. Information listed there will include: your main contact information, phone/cell (if provided), e-mail address, your membership information, disciplines, your qualifications, degrees you have earned, other designations you hold, your mailing address, and your alternate address.

Your listing in the ASFMRA 2013 Membership Directory will come from this information. Remember: Your directory listing consists of your name, membership classification, mailing address, telephone number, cell phone number, fax number, e-mail address, Web site, and any additional designations you have listed that you hold.

You read that correctly – Your cell phone number will be listed in the ASFMRA 2013 Membership Directory! If you have your cell phone number listed on your membership information, but do not want it listed in the directory, please opt out by sending an e-mail with the Subject line of: Do Not List Cell in Directory and include your complete name to Hope Evans at:

The ASFMRA 2013 Membership Directory is a powerful marketing and networking tool. Take advantage of this member benefit as it truly can make a difference! Please review your information and make any necessary changes by no later than Monday, January 21, 2013 to ensure your listing in the Membership Directory is correct. Any changes received after January 21st, will not be included in the ASFMRA 2013 Membership Directory.

The ASFMRA Executive Council Needs Your Input

ASFMRA has so much going for it. We are experiencing a growth in younger members, an increase in interest in the AFM program, as well as strong support for our Annual Meeting and Summer Education Week. What we need now is more input from you to further help us refine what is offered and how. Please complete the 2013 Membership Survey to give your input for the future of ASFMRA!

Need more incentive? Three individuals completing the survey will receive complimentary registrations to the ASFMRA Annual Meeting in Reno, Nevada scheduled for November 11-15, 2013 at the Peppermill Resort. Act fast, the survey will close on January 18, 2013.

Most major ’08 ag programs will continue

Until the new farm bill is passed this fall…
Lawmakers also extended a few farm supports, including $5 billion in direct payments, $110 million for dairy farmer assistance plus some other assistance.
Crop insurance and programs to promote farm exports also have the funds they need for this year. Be aware, though, that Congress might redirect the $5 billion in direct payments that are scheduled for release this fall as lawmakers hammer out the new farm bill.

The Appraisal Foundation Seeks Candidates for Vacancies on Board of Trustees

Application Deadline is April 2, 2013 –
Washington, DC— The Appraisal Foundation is beginning its search for qualified candidates to serve on its Board of Trustees. There are three At-Large Trustee seats available as of December 31, 2013. Completed applications for vacancies on the Board of Trustees must be received by April 2, 2013. The search for qualified candidates for the Appraisal Practices Board (APB) will begin in the weeks ahead. The search for qualified candidates for the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) and the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) will begin in late spring of 2013.

In Memory

Robert Loitz, AFM-Retired originally joined the Society on 5/23/72. He was recognized in 2012 in Indianapolis for 40 years of membership with ASFMRA.

Raymond Anthony Schneider of Urbandale, Iowa was a member of the ASFMRA from June 28, 1974 till December 29, 2006. He was a Retired member who had the AFM. Read his obituary:

If You Believe… Don’t Hold Back! Robert Evans Wilson, Jr.

The Un-Comfort Zone – I sat astride my banana seat bike in a parking lot and stared down a thirty foot strip of pavement. It was six inches wide and lined with rubber balls. I was nine years old and participating in a bicycle rodeo. The objective was to ride the entire length without hitting a single ball. The slightest bump would send them rolling. Nearly a hundred kids had entered, and so far no one had done this event perfectly. Each contestant got three tries. The best hit only five balls, most hit dozens. I didn’t see the difficulty. It looked easy, and as it turned out, for me, it was. I did it on my first attempt. No one else was able to do it – even with three tries. I was able to do it for the simple reason that I believed I could. Read more:
