Appraisals Should Report a Value Range Rather than a Single Point

Verify Your Information for the 2014 ASFMRA Membership Directory

Deadline is January 15, 2014
It’s that time of year again! Production is underway for the 2014 ASFMRA Membership Directory which is one of the Society’s most valued benefits of membership. As we all know, the directory’s value is only as good as the accuracy of the information in it.

Verify and/or Update Your Information
Is your information correct and up to date? Here’s how to make sure.
1. Go to the ASFMRA Web site (
2. Log in (Your username is your first and last name altogether, no space and your password is your member ID number)
3. Choose Update Profile and review your information
4. If there are changes that need to be made, choose from the drop down menu Modify My Record and click Go
5. Your information will be listed and you can make any necessary changes. Then simply click Submit Changes. It is that easy!
6. If you need to change your company name, simply choose Change Company Affiliation from the drop down menu instead of Modify My Record. Click Go, type in your new company name, and click on Submit. It’s that easy!

The deadline for updating your information is January 15, 2014. If you miss it, your information in the 2014 ASFMRA Membership Directory may not be correct.

Will water crisis be California’s third-world moment?

Compounding decisions related to a promised water allocation to federal contractors of 5 percent is the growing acreage of permanent crops farmers planted and the simple fact that without water, the crops will die. The ASFMRA Executive Council Needs Your Input – 2014 Membership Survey   

ASFMRA has so much going for it. We are experiencing a growth in younger members, an increase in interest in the designations, and strong support for our annual meeting and summer education week programs.  
What we need now is more input from you to further help us refine what we offer. Please complete the annual membership survey to give your input for the future of ASFMRA!  The ASFMRA Executive Council will be meeting in February to review the direction of the organization. In order to make the best decisions possible for ASFMRA, we need your feedback and input.
The 2014 Membership Survey is now open and waiting for your comments. Grab your coffee and take 10-15 minutes to help guide ASFMRA in a new direction in the coming year!
Need more incentive? Three individuals completing the survey will receive complimentary registrations to the ASFMRA Annual Meeting in Tucson, Arizona scheduled for October 27 – November 1, 2014 at the J.W. Marriott Star Pass. Act fast; the survey will close on January 22, 2014.

Charles Hein, AFM-Retired

The ASFMRA was honored to welcome Charles Hein, AFM-Retired into the membership in 1971. He obtained his Accredited Farm Managers (AFM) designation in 1993. Charles maintained his Accredited membership until he transferred to the Retired membership classification in 2010. Charles passed away on November 25, 2013. He made many friends through his association with the Society who will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Membership Dues Renewals – Online Paying and Receipts Available

As a reminder, you can pay your ASFMRA membership dues on-line! From this point forward, dues renewal invoices will continue to be sent via e-mail.

Simply go to the ASFMRA Web site (, log in (your Username is your First and Last name, altogether, no spaces and your Password is your member ID number), choose Update Profile, from the drop down menu choose ‘Pay Bills Online’, click Go, and your ASFMRA renewal dues invoice will appear. Then select the items you want to pay, click ‘Pay Selected Invoices’, and complete the information. It is that easy!

Need a receipt? Get a copy anytime day or night by simply going to the ASFMRA Web site (, log in, choose Update Profile, from the drop down menu choose ‘Order History’, click Go, from the second drop down menu choose which one you want such as ‘Orders placed in the past 6 months’, click Go, and your ASFMRA orders within the time period you specified will be listed. Click on the ‘View’ on the right hand side of the order you want to see. Your receipt for that order will appear. There is also a Printer Friendly option you can click on and then print the receipt. There is nothing else you have to do. It really is that simple!

American Agri-Women Award
Top Honor to Illinois Woman at 38th Annual Convention

American Agri-Women (AAW) awarded Penny Lauritzen, AFM, CFP® of Lanark, Ill., its highest member honor, the LEAVEN Award, at its 38th annual convention, held recently in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Lauritzen has been a member of Illinois Agri-Women, and American Agri-Women for more than 30 years. She has held numerous leadership positions within AAW including chairing several committees, helping develop AAW programing for its RFD-TV series, attending AAW Fly-Ins to Washington, D.C., and participating in the planning for two AAW annual conventions held in Illinois. She has also served as president, vice-president and editor of the “Speak Out” newsletter for Illinois Agri-Women. Read more:
