Presenters Needed for Rapid Fire Session at Annual Meeting

Rapid Fire Case Studies – a growing Session at the ASFMRA Annual Meeting – has become increasingly popular the last three years. We are excited to be offering it on the program for 2012 in Indianapolis. The purpose behind the session is for appraisers to share unique experiences or appraisal assignments that they have encountered in business.  We can all learn from one another and what better way than by sharing real life experiences.  The more diverse the better! But this can only happen with your help!

This year’s Rapid Fire Session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Presentations will range from 30 to 60 minutes in length and continuing education hours will be awarded for the session. We see this as a great opportunity to share knowledge with your peers and gain exposure for a unique project that you’ve encountered. As you will see in this session, Rapid Fire makes learning interesting and fun!

If you have a project that you think might be a fit for Rapid Fire, please contact Dave GaNun, ARA at david.ganun@farmcrediteast.com. Remember, what may seem the ‘norm’ to you, may truly be interesting and unusual to an appraiser from another part of the country.  What’s in your portfolio?

The Un-Comfort Zone by Robert Evans Wilson, Jr.

Who is the Puppet Master of Your Story?
I discovered something interesting when I first started writing fiction. The more I developed a character, the more he would develop a mind of his own about what he would do or not do. Many times a direction I initially imagined the character would take was no longer possible based on the character’s values. If I tried to force it, it would seem contrived, and, the reader would no longer find my character believable.
